KATHMANDU: The police have made public ascetic Ram Bahadur Bomjan, who was detained at Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.
He was made public through a press conference.
The CIB raided his home in Budanilkantha on Tuesday.
During the arrest Bamjan attempted to escape by jumping from a window on the south face of the fourth storey of his house, according to CIB Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari.
Along with Bomjan, 33.34 million rupees seized from his house by the police have also been nationalized.
30 million and 375 thousand Nepali rupees and foreign money totaling Rs 30,92,406 from 17 different countries were discovered at his home.
According to CIB, an investigation is underway into this money.
The arrest comes in response to a complaint filed by a 22-year-old woman, who had been a disciple in Bamjan’s ashram in Halkhoriya, Bara, since July-August, 2014.
The charges against Bamjan prompted the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sarlahi District Court on February 20, 2020.
CIB has prepared to present Bomjan in District Court Sarlahi.
