PM to brief to the committee about the agreement with India

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is going to inform the parliamentary committee about the 4 recent agreements between Nepal and India.

Committee Secretary Adhiraj Rai has informed that the Prime Minister would be briefed on the agreement during the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Indian Foreign Minister, signed four agreements, including one on electricity trade, during his recent visit to Nepal on Poush 19 (Jan 4).

Last Thursday, a long-term power trade agreement with India was reached, as well as an agreement to raise funding for the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) to 200 million rupees.

Another agreement has been signed to help India launch the Munal satellite made by Nepal. Similarly, an agreement was signed between Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and New Space India Limited under the Department of Space.

The parliamentarians are interested in the agreement in which the amount of assistance provided by the Indian embassy has been increased to 200 million.
