Journalists’ constructive role for global peace stressed

VAISHALI (INDIA): Emphasis has been laid that journalists of South Asian countries should play constructive role to establish peace and ensure human rights in the world.

At the Amrapali Art Literature International Conference organised by Vaishali District Foundation, Today Newspaper and SAARC Journalists Forum, Bihar chapter, on the occasion of concluding ceremony of silver jubilee of Vaishali district of Bihar state, India, it was stressed that the awareness and facilitation role played by media sector for the establishment of global peace should be more effective.

SAARC Journalists Forum International Committee President, Raju Lama, speaking at a seminar ‘War, Peace and Human Rights’ organised at World Peace Stupa area of Vaishali on Saturday and Sunday, rejected the discussion of war instead of peace.

He said that guaranteeing human rights in the world is impossible as an alternative to peace. “Following the path of Buddha and Mahabir is the need of present world and the SAARC Journalists Forum is adamant on this agenda.”

He shared that as moving ahead in the path of Lord Gautam Buddha and Mahabir is the need of hour, they would create awareness through journalism by adopting it.

Similarly, Forum General-Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahman explained that Vaishali disseminated a message of democracy in the world and spread democratic thoughts.

Likewise, international folk culture expert, Dr Sarita Budhu of Mauritius, mentioned that democracy and peace are established only from non-violence.

Chairperson of Bihar Hindi Literature Conference, Patna, Dr Anil Sulabh, Programme Chief of Doordarshan Kendra, Patna, Dr Raj Kumar Nahar, Conference Coordinator, Editor Dr Shashi Bhusan Kumar, among others made presentation in the conference.

Padma Shri winner Dr Jitendra Kumar, Padma Shri Raj Kumari Devi and Padma Shri Dr Shanti Rai, among others underscored that war could not resolve the problems of any society.

Different personalities of human rights and literary journalism sectors were honoured with Global Peace Award and Bihar Literary Award on the occasion.

People from different sectors of Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Mauritius had participated in the conference.
