According to the National Christian Federation officials, Christmas has been celebrated in Nepal for over 400 years.
The historical transition during Bikram Sambat (BS) 062-63 marked the declaration of Nepal as a federal republic, embracing secularism, and officially recognizing Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
In acknowledgment of the significance of Christmas, the government of Nepal has declared a public holiday today, allowing people to observe and celebrate this festive occasion.
Today, on this occasion, also known as “Christmas,” Jesus Christ is remembered in churches around the country with activities that include prayers.
