KATHMANDU: The emergency door of a Buddha Air plane that is about to fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu suddenly opened after the engine of flight number 652 began at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Dipendra Karna, the airline’s Information Officer, confirmed that the door was opened by a passenger.

The causes for this incidence are being investigated by security staff at the Pokhara terminal.

The aircraft is being inspected by Buddha Air, and the technical crew is examining the problem. Thankfully, passengers were safely relocated to Kathmandu on another flight.

Passenger Yadav Devkota, who experienced the incident firsthand, shared his experience on social media, stating that the emergency door swung open after the plane started.

The airline emphasizes that their flight attendants routinely brief passengers in emergency door seats and is working to understand the circumstances leading to this breach of safety protocol.
