GALKOT: An electrical mortuary was aided to the Galkot municipal hospital in Baglung.
Jhappar Bahadur Basnet, a local of Galkot Municiplaity-6, Nepane donated an electrical mortuary to the hospital in memory of his father Bir Bahadur and mother Mankumari.
The Basnet family aided the mortuary worth Rs 800,000 to the hospital.
Hospital’s chief Dr Rajesh Poudel said the hospital’s works did not go smooth in lack of electrical mortuary.
“They were compelled to undertake autopsies of decomposed bodies in lack of mortuary”, he said. There was no single mortuary in West Baglung having six local government units. It was difficult to keep the bodies for long in such situation.
According to Dr Poudel, the mortuary available at the hospital can keep two bodies. “There was a situation to reach Baglung for safely keeping the bodies”, he added.
Basnet pledged to continue providing other required equipment to the hospital.
There was a compulsion to keep mortal body at Dhaulagiri Hospital in the district headquarters which was expensive.
