According to district police, nine individuals have been arrested in Dharan, including those from 13 petrol pumps in Shivadhara and two areas in Machhabhaudi.

Additionally, six activists from Budi Khola on the East-West highway in Itahari have also been brought under police control.

The detained leaders identified by the protesting side include Ramesh Rai, Chandramaya Limbu, Amit Rai, Bisnu Tigela Limbu, Padam Tamang, Mahendra Gurung, Shibu Isbo Limbu, Sagar Dhami, and Tien Subba.

Furthermore, three more individuals from Machhabhaudi, Dharan have reportedly been brought under police control, but their names have not been disclosed, as informed by Dharan’s JSP Chair, Tajub Limbu.

In addition to this, student leaders from Itahari, including Laxman Khawahang Limbu, Tara Prasad Rai, Aaitaraj Limbu, and Sarita Lohorung, are said to be among those who have been detained.

The arrest of over a dozen identity-based leaders, including Gopal Kirati, is linked to allegations of disrupting the prosperity journey from Jhulaghat to Chiwa Bhanjyang organized by the CPN-UML.

These leaders, along with others, have demanded unconditional release and called for a two-day shutdown across the state, according to the United Struggle Committee for the renaming of State 1.
