Vehicle carrying straw set on fire in Ilam

KATHMANDU: Identity-based protesters set fire to a vehicle carrying straw in Rong Rural Municipality-4, Kiteni, Ilam.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when a pick-up truck with the license plate May 1 Ja 1140, carrying straw from Jhapa, was intercepted and intentionally ignited.

The protesters forcibly removed the driver from the vehicle before setting it ablaze, resulting in the complete destruction of the pick-up van.

Transport businessmen have complained to the government for not providing security during the shutdown.

Local residents reported that unidentified individuals orchestrated the attack.

Protestors call for closure of Mechi Highway to demand a correction in the name of Koshi State and the release of workers.
