Govt imposes ban on strikes in 25 sectors, including telephone & internet services

KATHMANDU: The government, through a notice published in the Gazette on Thursday, has publicly disclosed a list of sectors where strikes are prohibited as per the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014, Section 3(1).
Under the directive, the government has strictly forbidden strikes in crucial services such as telephone services, postal services, governmental printing presses, banking services, electricity supply, consular departments, and internet services within the designated areas.
Furthermore, the directive explicitly states that the cessation of activities related to airfields, railway stations, and government warehouses for the storage, distribution, and dispatch of goods, as well as the production, storage, and distribution of military equipment or any defense-related services by the Nepal government, is strictly prohibited.
