14 kg gold case: Airport sanitation supervisor arrested
To investigate the gold case, the government formed a committee led by Chief Customs Officer Maniram Paudel.
KATHMANDU: Police have arrested the cleaning supervisor of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) during the investigation of the 14 kg gold seized case.
Chandra Ghale of Gorkha, who had arrived in Kathmandu from Dubai on the night of Mangsir 21 (Dec 7), was apprehended with 14 kg of gold.
The inquiry indicated that Ghale, who was apprehended as he exited the plane, intended to deposit gold in the airport bathroom before proceeding to the immigration walk-through gate and discard it as rubbish.
To investigate the gold case, the government formed a committee led by Chief Customs Officer Maniram Paudel.
Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office sources informed that the committee arrested Sushil Pandey, the airport’s sanitation supervisor, from Bhaktapur on Wednesday night for investigation.
The investigation committee has already arrested 3 employees of TIA for investigation in this case.
