Kathmandu records coldest day of the year: Chilly temperatures gripping the capital

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley today is the coldest this year so far.

According to Meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari of the Weather Forecast Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley in the morning was 6.2 degrees Celsius.

The weather in the valley is normally clear. ‘This is the coldest temperature of the season,’ claimed meteorologist Adhikari. ‘Previously, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu valley had plummeted to 7.4 degrees Celsius; today, it has dropped even lower.’

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the western wind has a limited influence in Nepal.

As a consequence of the partial change in the country’s mountainous parts, the weather is normally clear in the remainder of the country. A few places in the Terai are affected.

This afternoon will be partly cloudy in the hilly areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki regions.

Light snowfall is possible in one or two locations in the high hills and Himalayan highlands of Koshi and Gandaki States.
