Sale of meat and liquor in surrounding areas of Pashupatinath Temple prohibited

KATHMANDU: Meat and alcohol production, sale, transit, storage, and consumption will be prohibited in the Pashupatinath temple grounds and neighboring regions for one week beginning today.

According to a notice published by the District Administration Office Kathmandu, this rule will apply to all regions from the Gaushala Mitrapark road to the east, the Pashupati area to the east border, the Gaushala Tilganga ring road to the north, and the Mitrapark-Umakund-Gaurighat to Guhyeshwari to the south.

As of the Balachaturdashi festival, this rule will be enforced in these locations till Mangsir 27 (Dec 13).

It is stated in the notification issued by Jitendra Basnet, the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu District, that if anyone does anything that violates this notification, action will be taken according to the prevailing law.
