KATHMANDU: The procedure of paying insurance funds to the relatives of those who died in the earthquake that struck Jajarkot’s Barekot-1 Ramidanda Center on Kartik 17 (Nov 3) has begun.

The money has been given out to the relatives of 29 of the 56 deceased in Nalgad Municipality, according to Karnali State Government Spokesperson and Minister of Internal Affairs and Law Krishna Bahadur GC.

He claims that the money was dispersed at a rate of two lakh rupees each dead.

GC said that they will visit to all the municipalities and distribute the insurance money in the next three to four days. The state administration has previously developed a natural catastrophe insurance scheme for Karnali residents. The insurance payout was made using the same program.

More than 150 people died in the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West. “We have lost four people from the same family. “We have given eight lakh rupees to the family of the deceased”, said GC, “We have started distributing the amount with the aim of providing support to the family of the deceased by distributing the amount quickly.”

Padam Sodari, the head of the Insurance Authority of Karnali State, is also helping with the distribution along with GC.

The state administration has resolved to begin building public structures immediately.

The earthquake impacted water supplies, roads, schools, health clinics, and irrigation facilities. The system was funded by the state government.
