29 dies in bus accident in central Philippines

KATHMANDU: A bus plunged down a cliff in the central Philippines, killing 29 passengers.

According to local officials, at least 29 people were killed when a passenger bus plunged down a cliff in the central Philippines’ Antique province on Tuesday.

Around 4:30 p.m., the bus carrying 53 people was traveling west from Iloilo City to San Jose de Buenavista in Antique when it plunged into a 15-meter-deep ditch.

Junlee Saylo, the chief of the Antique Provincial Information Office, stated on radio that 25 people perished on the scene and four died while receiving care at a local hospital.

Among those killed were the bus driver and co-driver.
