Sacked Bir Hospital director, Dr. Santosh Poudel, approached to SC
The hearing in his case has been scheduled for Mangsir 20 (Dec 6) by the Supreme Court.
KATHMANDU: Dr. Santosh Poudel, who was sacked as the director of Bir Hospital, has approached the Supreme Court (SC) for legal remedies.
Dr. Paudel filed a case against the decision of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the Supreme Court on Monday.
The hearing in his case has been scheduled for Mangsir 20 (Dec 6) by the Supreme Court.
According to sources close to Dr. Poudel, he has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to be permitted to work for the duration of his tenure.
He was appointed as the director of Bir Hospital in Falgun 2079 for a two-year term.
A complaint was filed that Dr. Paudel is a member of the CPN (UML) and active as the general secretary of the People’s Organization.
Based on the same complaint, the National Vigilance Center recommended to the Ministry for action as per the law as it appears that his involvement with the trade union is attracted by the provisions of Section 92 (a) of the Health Services Act, 2053.
The ministry had written to Dr. Paudel to attend the ministry from Mangsir 15 (Dec 1) until further decision is taken, saying that he will not continue to hold the official responsibility of Veer’s director.
