Three bailees taken to DMLI

KATHMANDU: In the case of fake Bhutanese refugees, those released on bail have been taken to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI) by order of the High Court of Patan.

Former home minister Bal Krishna Khand’s private secretary Narendra KC, Hajj committee Chair Shamsher Mia and Hari Bhakta Maharjan were taken to the department on Monday.

The bench of Patan High Court Judges Prakash Kharel and Janak Pandey ordered their release on bail on Friday. After the order, KC, Mian and Maharjan submitted the bail amount on Sunday. KC and Mia have submitted a bail of each Rs 10 lakh and Maharjan Rs 15 lakh.

Those who have paid their bail have been taken to the department by the Sundhara Jail Administration. Lalit Basnet, the chief of the jail administration, told the department that they had been turned over.

According to the police, the suspects in the case should be examined by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI) and Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

They will be investigated again by the department and the authorities. They will not be permitted to leave if it is determined that they should be detained during the inquiry.
