8 dead in road accident in east India

NEW DELHI: At least eight people, including a child and three women, died and seven others were seriously injured in a road accident in India’s eastern state of Odisha on Friday, a policeman told Xinhua over phone.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital. Of the deceased, seven died instantly, and one died during treatment, the policeman said.

The condition of the injured was said to be serious.

The victims belonged to two families and were returning from a wedding.

The road accident occurred when their car rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway No. 20 near Balijodi village.
