KATHMANDU: An order has come from the Patan High Court today in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.

The Patan High Court granted the ruling after hearing a review petition against the Kathmandu District Court’s detention order.

The arguments of all parties were concluded on Thursday in the hearing conducted at Patan High Court by Judges Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel since last week.

The judgment states that eight persons, including Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, shall stay in custody until trial. While hearing an appeal against the arrest warrant, the Patan High Court affirmed the District Court of Kathmandu’s judgment detaining eight persons, including Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal, Angtawa Sherpa, and Rayamajhi.

Judge Janak Pandey and Judge Prakash Kharel, on the other hand, differed on whether to release former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand on bail or keep him in prison.

Judge Pandey ordered that he be freed on a bail of 3 million, but Judge Kharel disagreed and ordered that he be held in custody.

This disagreement will now be decided by the third judge’s bench. Khand will likewise be detained until additional directives are issued.

Similarly, the Patan High Court has ordered the release of Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal. The joint bench of Judge Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel ordered him to be released on a bond of Rs 1.5 million.

Narendra KC has been given bail of 1 million, Hari Bhakta Maharjan 1.5 million, Shamshermia 1 million, Sandeep Rayamajhi 3 million, Teknath Rizal 1.5 million and Laxmi Maharjan, Aashish Budhathoki, Tanka Gurung have been ordered to be released on a simple date.
