KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has ordered the release of Teknath Rijal, a Bhutanese refugee leader who is being held in detention pending trial in connection with the case of fraudulent Bhutanese refugees.

He was ordered to be freed on a Rs 1.5 million bail by a combined court comprising Judge Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel.

The High Court ruled that Rijal should not be detained since he is a leader of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal and there is no need for him to flee.
