KATHMANDU: The restriction was lifted in the Indian capital on Wednesday after air quality improved dramatically owing to light rain and increasing wind speed.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) fell from 365 to 258. According to officials, limitations on some types of cars have now been loosened in regions around Delhi and Gurugram, Faridabad, under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for the whole National Capital Region (NCR).

Earlier efforts launched by the government on Nov 2 halted numerous polluting operations such as building and mining.

These activities, however, are expected to restart once the limitations are lifted.
