Gazans return to devastation as conflict leaves homes in ruins

KATHMANDU: Some Gaza residents have returned to their homes during the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

However, only destroyed houses have been discovered.

People are attempting to collect belongings from under the wreckage in the Al-Zahra neighborhood in the Gaza Strip’s south.

They said that they lived safely prior to the conflict, but that the structures were demolished after the war began.

Following Israeli bombings on Gaza in reprisal for a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, the two sides struck a four-day humanitarian truce last week.

According to Palestine, the number of Palestinians dead in the Israel-Hamas war has surpassed 15,000 people.

According to Israel, around 1,200 people were murdered and over 200 individuals were held captive in the Hamas raid.
