EC to provide financial support to quake victims

KATHMANDU: Election Commission officials will assist people impacted by the earthquake that struck Jajarkot on Kartik 17 (Nov 3).

The Commission’s spokesperson, Shaligram Sharma Poudel, informed that it has been decided to support one day’s salary from employees working in state and district election offices, three from secretaries and joint secretaries, two from deputy secretaries and branch officers, and from employees below.
He said that the funds for the relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims will be sent through the Prime Minister’s Disaster Disaster Relief Fund.
26,557 private houses were completely damaged and 35,455 houses were partially damaged by the earthquake.
