30 Palestinian prisoners freed on fifth day of ceasefire

KATHMANDU: On the sixth day of the truce, Israel freed 30 Palestinian detainees. A bus transporting 30 Palestinian inmates left the Israeli Ofer jail near Ramallah on Tuesday evening.

According to the Israel Prison Service, 30 Palestinians, including 15 women and 15 kids, were freed from Israeli jails during the fifth phase of Israel and Hamas’ ceasefire deal.

Earlier on Tuesday, Hamas’ military arm, the Al-Qassam Brigades, handed up the sixth set of captives to the International Red Cross.

The Israeli government has also confirmed that it has received 12 hostages, including 10 Israelis and two Thai citizens, who were released from the Gaza Strip. The four-day humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which expired on Tuesday morning, was extended for two more days.
