Egypt aims to receive 3 million Chinese tourists annually by 2028
Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt informed about this. Currently, 4,000 to 5,000 Chinese tourists come to Egypt every week.

KATHMANDU: Egypt has set a target of attracting 3 million Chinese tourists annually by 2028 as part of the country’s ambitious strategy to increase its share of the Chinese tourism market.
Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt informed about this. Currently, 4,000 to 5,000 Chinese tourists come to Egypt every week.
Issa said more flights and hotel rooms are needed to handle the growing number of Chinese visitors.
In 2019, there were 150 million foreign tourists in China prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic. According to Issa, the number of Chinese visitors has never topped 300,000 in a single year since Egypt began tracking them in 2000.
According to Isa, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and its Chinese counterparts, as well as Chinese investors and tour operators, can work together to increase the number of Chinese visitors visiting Egypt.
According to official figures, the number of visitors in Egypt decreased from 13 million in 2019 to 3.7 million in 2020. It steadily climbed to 8 million in 2021 and 11.7 million in 2022.
