Court grants detention for 8, including Durga Prasai’s secretary Thapa & Srinivasa Acharya

KATHMANDU: The deadline for eight persons detained in Gaushala for hurling stones at police has been extended.

The District Police Complex in Kathmandu detained 15 persons on Monday for pelting stones on police during a rally in Gaushala.

The Kathmandu District Court has extended the deadline for eight of them, according to SP Kumodh Dhungel.

Vinanjaya Thapa, Srinivasa Acharya, and eight others have been given extensions as personal secretaries to Durga Prasai.

The investigation of Nikesh Bastola, Sujan Khadka, Mehrman Basnet, Dipesh Khadka, Anil Gurung, and Manoj Thapa has been prolonged.

According to the police, the time restriction in the case against them for crime against public peace and indecent behavior has been extended.

The court allowed Srinivasa, Manoj, Vinanjay and Nikesh to be detained for 3 days while others were allowed to be detained for five days.

Prasai, a medical practitioner, has been demonstrating in various places of Kathmandu since Mangsir 7 (Nov 23).

There was also a clash with the police during the demonstration at Gaushala on Monday. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. The protesters pelted stones at the police. The premises informed that 38 people including the police were injured.
