23-year-old teacher jailed for raping and murdering a teen girl

KATHMANDU: A teacher has been remanded to jail for allegedly killing a girl after rape in Gulmi.
Rahis Khan, a 23-year-old inhabitant of Chandrakot-4, Khajura Rural Municipality-7, Banke, has been sentenced to prison for the murder of a girl from Baglung who resides in Gulmi’s Chandrakot Rural Municipality-4.
He works as a teacher in Chandrakot. Manisha Ruchal, 15, was discovered nude on the bank of the Hugdi River in Chandrakot Rural Municipality-4 on Kartik 17 (Nov 3).
Manisha, a resident of Bareng Rural Municipality in Baglung district and a living at Chandrakot-4, went to the market last month on Kartik 16 (Nov 2) to buy tobacco for workers.
After the girl did not come home, her body was found on the morning of Kartik 17 (Nov 3) during the search. On Kartik 17 (Nov 3), the police detained Khan on charge of killing Manisha after raping her and began an inquiry.
Dillinarayan Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Gulmi, stated that Khan was remanded to jail by the District Court in Gulmi on Monday.
Manisha went to the shop to buy tobacco for the workers who were harvesting paddy in the field, according to the girl’s mother.
She was studying in class 9 at a school in Chandrakot.
Khan, who was arrested, has been teaching at Shantipur, Chandrakot, for five months, according to the police.
