KATHMANDU: The petition filed in the Supreme Court against the government’s decision to ban the social network Tiktok is being heard from today.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and advocates Swagat Nepal, Jagannath Dulal and others have scheduled an hearing for today.

Recently, after the government banned the social networking site TikTok, all writs filed in the Supreme Court were gathered for hearing on the first day of the court’s opening, Mangsir 1 (Nov 17).

Advocate Tripathi and others have demanded that the government’s decision be revoked and the TikTok ban lifted immediately, claiming that it is illegal and unconstitutional, abusive and arbitrary.

The petitioners argue that the government is wrong to undermine social harmony by focusing solely on the negative.

The Council of Ministers decided on Kartik 27 (Nov 13) to close TikTok in Nepal, claiming that it had harmed social harmony.
