KATHMANDU: In a momentous occasion that resonates with cultural significance and communal harmony, President Paudel actively participated in the grand Chhath observance and puja celebrations, marking a nationwide fervor for the revered festival.

President Ram Chandra Paudel visited Guhyeshwari in Kathmandu after observing Chhath Ghat.

Amidst vibrant and spiritually charged atmospheres at various ghats, President Paudel took part in the sacred rituals, showcasing a deep respect for the cultural heritage embedded in the Chhath festival.

On the occasion of Chhath festival, which is celebrated grandly in different parts of the country, it is a tradition that every year the President worships Chhathi Mata along with sun at Guhyeshwori and Kamalpokhari and offers arghya to the setting sun.

Guhyeshwori-Gaurighat and other places in the capital are also decorated for the Chhath festival, which is celebrated every year from Kartik Shukla Chaturthi to Saptami.

A large crowd has gathered to view the decorations. Hyms and devotional music have softened the atmosphere along the Bagmati River banks in the Pashupati region.

This year, Chhath ghats were built and decorated on the right and left banks of the Bagmati River from Guhyeshwori to Gaurighat, Kamal Pokhari, Thapathali, Kupandol, Nakkhu Khola at various locations, and the Bishnumati and Bagmati river banks in the capital.

Vartalu (people who offers fast), who prayed to the sunset this evening, will remain awake at the Chhath puja site until the sun rises on Monday morning.

The four-day Chhath festival concludes with dawn prayers to the sun.
