Primary schools closed in Delhi as air pollution rises
Due to increasing air pollution levels in and around India's capital city, Delhi's Education Minister Atishi Marlena declared on Sunday that all elementary schools in Delhi will be closed until Nov 10.

Due to increasing air pollution levels in and around India’s capital city, Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi Marlena declared on Sunday that all elementary schools in Delhi will be closed until Nov 10.
Although primary schools will remain closed, instructors in grades 6 through 12 will be able to attend classes online, according to the minister.
On Sunday, the overall air quality index (AQI) in Delhi was 482. That’s a significant category.
Smog has been engulfing Delhi and its nearby areas for several days. Many patients have reported itchy eyes, painful throats, and breathing difficulties.
Air pollution in Delhi generally increases during the winter months of November to February.
Burning of stubble by farmers in neighboring states, particularly Punjab and Haryana, is often cited as a major cause. Other causes include traffic pollution.
