Jajarkot earthquake: 157 bodies handed over to families

KATHMANDSU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the identities of 157 individuals who perished in the devastating Jajarkot earthquake, facilitating the repatriation of their remains to their relatives.

The bodies of 105 people from Jajarkot and 52 people from Rukum West have been identified by their relatives.

Ministry Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai highlights government-wide collaboration in search, rescue, and relief efforts, and notes the return of treated survivors.

Official statistics reveal that 99 women and 58 men lost their lives in the earthquake, with a significant impact on Jajarkot and Rukum West districts.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also informed that more than 200 people were injured in the earthquake and 146 have returned home after treatment, while 110 remain under treatment.
