KATHMANDU: Yograj Dhakal ‘Regal’ of Nepalgunj, who was arrested after the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC), has been sent to the Prison Office, Banke, today.

Following the Supreme Court’s recent verdict, Yograj Dhakal ‘Regal’ of Nepalgunj has been sent to the Banke Prison today.

Saroj Nidhi Wagle, the District Registrar at Banke District Court, confirmed that Regal has begun serving the remaining 11 years, 11 months, and 5 days of his jail sentence after the SC’s ruling on Thursday.

The Prison Office in Banke presented Regal before the Banke District Court for further legal proceedings today at 11 AM, as stated by Narayan Dangi, the Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Banke.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court issued an order canceling the government’s decision to grant Yog Raj Dhakal ‘Regal’ amnesty.

He was serving a life sentence in jail for the murder of Nepalgunj resident Chetan Manandhar.

Regal was detained shortly after the SC ruling, and according to Regal’s close friends, he surrendered himself following the SC verdict.

On the occasion of Constitution Day, President Ram Chandra Paudel commuted Regal’s prison sentences based on the advice of the Council of Ministers.
