ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers: UAE sets a 135-run target for Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal has got a target of 135 runs to win against UAE for T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

After winning the toss and batting at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, UAE scored 134 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

For UAE, Vriitya Aravind scored 64 runs off 51 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Similarly, none of the other UAE players could perform well.

UAE scored 29 runs in the first three overs. But Nepal was back in the game after Sompal took two wickets with one run out in the fourth wicket. After that, Nepal continuously put UAE under pressure.

Waseem, who played a big short on the fourth ball of Sompal’s fourth over, was caught out by Karan KC at deep midwicket. Waseem played an aggressive innings of 26 runs off 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. That wicket was the turning point of the game.

Sandeep dismissed Aasif Khan lbw for 13 runs in the last ball of the 10th over. Alishan Sharafu, who played a big short in the fourth ball of the 14th over by Kushal Malla, was caught out by Sompal Kami at long-off for 16 runs. Sharafu hit 3 boundaries while playing 14 balls.

On the fifth ball of captain Rohit Poudel’s 16th over, Ali Nasir was caught at long-off by Kushal Bhurtel for 4 runs. Alishan Sharafu 16, Aasif Khan 13, Ali Naseer 4, Basil Hamid and Aayan Khan were dismissed for 1 run each.

Kushal Malla of Nepal took 3 wickets by spending 11 runs in 3 overs. Sandeep Lamichhan took 2 wickets after spending 14 runs with 1 maiden in 4 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel took 1 wicket after spending 6 runs in 1 over. Sompal Kami took 1 wicket for 15 runs in 3 overs.
