Yograj Dhakal (Regal) to serve 12-year prison term as per court judgment

KATHMANDU: Yograj Dhakal ‘Regal,’ who was arrested following the Supreme Court’s decision, will be imprisoned for another 12 years.

Regal will be sentenced to 11 years, 11 months, and 5 days in prison, according to the Supreme Court’s decision.

He was arrested from Nepalgunj on Thursday afternoon as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision.

The joint bench of Judges Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Sapana Pradhan Malla, and Kumar Chudal overturned the President’s Office’s decision to grant Dhakal amnesty and ordered his immediate arrest and detention.

On the occasion of Constitution Day, the Council of Ministers decided to commute Yograj Dhakal’s sentence and to recommend amnesty to the President. Dhakal was released from prison on the advice of the government.

Dhakal was sentenced to life in prison in the case of Chetan Manandhar’s murder by the Banke District Court on 2075-01-11 and the Tulsipur, Nepalgunj High Court on 2076-10-28.

After that Regal was in prison from 2072-5-7.
