Bharti Manandhar ends hunger strike
Bharati Manandhar ended her hunger strike by accepting a glass of juice.
KATHMANDU: Bharti Manandhar broke her hunger strike after the Supreme Court ordered to cancel the decision to release Yograj Dhakal (Regal).
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling to annul the decision to release Yograj Dhakal (Regal), Bharati Manandhar ended her hunger strike by accepting a glass of juice from a supporter in Maitighar.
On Thursday, a judicial bench comprising Permanent Chief Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Sapana Pradhan Malla, and Kumar Chudal issued an order for the immediate arrest of Regal.
Regal, who had been serving a prison sentence for the murder of Chetan Manandhar, had his remaining imprisonment term pardoned by the government on Constitution Day.
Bharati Manandhar Sherpa, Chetan Manandhar’s wife, had lodged a petition with the Supreme Court on Ashoj 22 (Oct 9), contesting the decision that led to Regal’s release.
