KATHMANDU: A policeman, identified as Jeevraj Tamang, employed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), has been taken into custody by the police in connection with an ongoing human trafficking investigation.
This arrest followed the necessary legal procedures, with a court date established to facilitate the investigation.
Superintendent Ravindra Regmi, responsible for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, stated that Tamang’s apprehension was prompted by his suspected involvement in human trafficking.
Additionally, another individual was also detained alongside the policeman.
According to the police’s preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that Tamang was allegedly participating in the production of counterfeit documents and facilitating the travel of individuals abroad on tourist visas, collaborating with human trafficking networks.
