Mornings find these diligent farmers busy handpicking Makhamali flowers, while afternoons are dedicated to crafting these blossoms into beautiful garlands.

Gundu is renowned as a prominent hub for Makhamali flowers in the Kathmandu Valley.

The timeless Makhamali flower garlands, which never lose their charm, are traditionally exchanged by sisters, adorning their brothers on the auspicious occasion of Tihar Bhai Tika as a symbol of longevity and well wishes.

These Makhamali flower garlands are priced at Rs 30 to 40 apiece, with the cost varying based on the size and type of the garland.

The tradition of cultivating these flowers in Gundu has spanned 25 to 30 years, a testament to the cultural richness of the region.
