KATHMANDU: The former Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, has tragically passed away due to a heart attack in Shanghai on Friday morning.
At the age of 68, Li had been a prominent figure in the political landscape, serving as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 17th, 18th, and 19th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China.
He was rushed to a local hospital after experiencing a sudden heart attack on Thursday, but despite medical treatment, Li succumbed to his condition at approximately 12:10 local time.
Li Keqiang’s tenure as Prime Minister was a pivotal period in China’s recent economic development.

Following his election as General Secretary at the 17th Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, Xi Jinping assumed the role of China’s primary leader, while Li Keqiang continued to play a crucial role in the nation’s economic progress.
