AGENCY: Due to the enormous number of migrants arriving on the Canary Islands’ shore since the beginning of October, Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Immigration declared an emergency.
According to government sources, 8,561 migrants arrived on the island in the first 15 days of October.
It is estimated that 23 thousand 537 individuals have visited since the beginning of this year. 31 thousand 678 people arrived in 2006. This is the highest number this year. It is stated that the declaration of emergency is intended to restrict people’s movement.
