KATHMANDU: For this year’s Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals, Nepal Rastra Bank will issue new notes.

Rastra Bank has announced that the new banknote facility will be available the day after Ghatasthapana (Ashoj 28), with a focus on Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath. Through its offices, the Nepal Rastra Bank will distribute fresh notes to the general people, banks, and financial organizations.

The Nepal Rastra Bank is issuing new notes to Banijya Bank on demand in the first phase.

According to Nepal Rastra Bank, arrangements have been made to exchange new notes within the Kathmandu Valley through the Money Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank and designated branch offices of licensed commercial banks. Along with this, new notes can be exchanged through the nearest branch office designated by the commercial banks.

Similarly, outside of Kathmandu Valley, the new notes can be exchanged through the state office of Nepal Rastra Bank or the commercial bank’s designated branch.

According to a Nepal Rastra Bank official, the possibility of swapping fresh notes of Rs 18,500 per individual is still available this year.

As in the previous year, a person has been scheduled to swap 18,500 rupees of fresh notes at the cost of a bundle of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 rupees.
