Seven, including Secretary Marasini, charged with corruption

KATHMANDU: Nine people have been charged with corruption, including Madhu Marasini, Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies.

In connection with the National Payment Gateway case, the accused include the Chair and Executive Director of the National Information Technology Center, as well as Secretary Marasini.
The claims center on the National Payment Gateway, which was purchased six years ago but has remained idle due to insufficient infrastructural preparations.
Following an extensive investigation, the CIAA launched legal actions in response to claims of illegal destruction and misuse of government assets deriving from the acquisition of 25 million rupees.
Furthermore, the CIAA ruled that the embezzlement occurred as a result of coordination and preparation, naming the former executive director of the National Information Technology Center as a suspect.
