KATHMANDU: The patient’s family assaulted a doctor studying at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) in Sinamangal.
Doctors were attacked again in the capital the day after the administration reached an agreement with the protesting doctors following the incident at Pokhara’s Manipal Hospital.
According to a doctor studying at KMC, doctors and health workers began a protest after the patient’s relatives assaulted an intern working in the OPD.
According to him, when the intern doctor gathered at the OPD and told him not to make noise and to go outside and wait, the relatives of one of the patients started abusing the doctor.
They lifted the doctor and threw him on the ground and also assaulted a female attendant who went to protect the doctor.
After the incident, doctors and interns working in the hospital as well as health workers are gathering on the road in front of the hospital and shouting slogans.
They have asked that the attacker be apprehended quickly and that the Home Minister’s agreement be properly implemented.
According to the doctor who works there, one of those who beat the doctor has been caught, while three others have fled.
As the KMC physicians and interns march towards the roundabout, efforts are being made to disperse them by deploying a huge number of police and armed police.
