KATHMANDU: After four days, the curfew in Sarlahi’s Malangwa has been lifted for days.

The administration’s curfew was lifted after four days due to a confrontation between two communities while returning from immersing the Ganesha idol in Malangwa Municipality.

The daytime curfew will be lifted today, according to Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav, and the curfew will be enforced solely from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Under his direction, the coordination facilitation conference conducted today lowered the curfew time in Malangwa. According to Yadav, the curfew has been imposed from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. unless further orders or arrangements are made.

Although the curfew has been lifted during the day, it is still prohibited to hold any kind of gathering, rally, meeting, or demonstration, or to post or write propaganda materials such as posters or leaflets within the former Malangwa city area due to the potential risk to the general public’s safety.

People who disseminate myths and rumors on social media will be recognized and prosecuted for committing cyber crimes under the law, according to the administration.

Given the scenario following the incident during idol worship on the evening of Ashoj 4 (Sept 21), the administration imposed an indefinite curfew beginning at 10 p.m. on the same day.
