KATHMANADU: The first Bagmati State Convention of CPN (UML) will be held in Kathmandu on Ashoj 8 and 9 (Sept 25 & 26).

The convention’s final session, which will be opened by the party’s Chair KP Sharma Oli on Ashoj 8 (Sept 25), will be held at the Nepal Pragya Foundation in Kathmandu’s Bhrikuti Mandap.

According to the organizing committee’s Chair, Keshavraj Pandey, most of the municipal committee and people’s organization members have been chosen, the details have been received, and other preparations have been done.

A new leadership of 249 members will be elected at the convention of 1,200 delegates.

Chair Pandey said that efforts are being made to make the leadership selection unanimous and if that is not possible, elections may also be held for some posts.

He said, ‘The first and historic session of the state committee, which is also the capital of the country, is taking place. It naturally has interest and attraction. After the representatives come, we proceed according to their feelings. But there is no factionalism and unhealthy competition in us as it appears. There is no message from the leadership of the party that it should or should not happen. This decision is in the hands of the representatives of the state committee. The main thing is that we run effectively according to the goals and objectives of the party.’

Earlier, the session of Lumbini State Committee of UML has already been held.

The meeting of the working committee will be held again tomorrow, Ashoj 5 (Sept 22) at 11:00 am at the central office of the party.
