KATHMANDU: The police have released the four accused who gang-raped a married woman in Dadeldhura.

The district police office held a press conference on Thursday after the four youths who gang-raped a 20-year-old married woman of Bhageshwar Rural Municipality admitted that they initially raped them.

The identities of 23-year-old Kamal Oad, 18-year-old Prakash Oad, 22-year-old Tapendra Oad, and 28-year-old Deepak Oad of Bhageshwar Rural Municipality-3 Odgaon have been disclosed by the police.

Prakash and Deepak are unmarried, according to the police.

After complaining of stomach ache for several months, the woman’s family members took her to a health camp on Bhadra 30 (Sept 16) in Bhageswar Rural Municipality-3. Deepak Kumar Karki, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Dadeldhura, stated that the incidence came to light after a video X-ray of her in the camp revealed that she was 5 months pregnant.

The woman’s spouse had been in India for a year and a half. The victim is a daughter’s mother. The preliminary investigation, according to DSP Karki, indicated that the woman was gang-raped twice in the evenings of Baisakh 5 (April 18) and 12 (April 25) in the local Nanigad River.

According to Karki, the Dadeldhura District Court extended the deadline by seven days on Thursday, and an inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
