KATHMANDU: The government has raised the stamp duty required to apply for a citizenship certificate.
Citizenship regulations passed by the Council of Ministers with changes require Nepalese who apply for citizenship certificates to affix a 10 rupee stamp.
Previously, it was filed for citizenship by stamping a 5 rupee note.
“Instead of the words ‘Ticket of Rs. 5”, the words ‘Rs. 10’ have been changed in the schedules,” the regulation states.
Citizenship Regulation 2080 was passed by the Council of Ministers on Bhadra 29 (Sept 15).
The Citizenship Act was revised by the government last Jestha. The regulation was revised to bring it in conformity with the legislation.
