Teej celebration takes a dark turn: man beaten to death over dispute
According to the Palpa District Police Office, the dispute among local youths took a violent turn, resulting in Khatri's untimely death.
KATHMANDU: In a tragic incident, 24-year-old Sunil Khatri from Tinau Rural Municipality-2, Dobhan Ghondebas in Palpa, lost his life due to a heated altercation with his friends.
According to the Palpa District Police Office, the dispute among local youths took a violent turn, resulting in Khatri’s untimely death.
Police Inspector Santosh Chand, the Information Officer of the District Police Office in Palpa, reported that the altercation escalated around 12:30 AM last night.
Khatri, who sustained severe injuries during the altercation, was rushed to Lumbini Regional Hospital for medical treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries at 1:45 AM.
The dispute arose while women were celebrating Teej with nighttime festivities, and preliminary investigations suggest that the argument spiraled into violence, ultimately leading to Khatri’s tragic demise.
Four youths have been detained by the police on the charge of murder. But the police did not reveal more details.
A team including Chief Superintendent of Police Heramba Sharma of District Police Office Palpa has reached the spot and is conducting further investigation.
