KATHMANDU: Felicity Volk, Australia’s ambassador to Nepal, met with Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Speaker of the National Assembly.

A meeting was held between Speaker Timilsina and Ambassador Volk in the working room of National Assembly Speaker Timilsina at Singha Durbar on Monday.

According to Chaior Timilsina’s secretariat, bilateral interests, friendly relations, and high-level visits were discussed at the discussion. According to the secretariat, Chair Timilsina stated during the meeting that Nepal and Australia have enjoyed a very amicable and cooperative relationship since the start of diplomatic relations in 1960.

Similarly, he drew Ambassador Volk’s attention to the fact that many students can benefit if Australia gives more scholarships to Nepalese students.

Chair Timilsina emphasized that direct air flights should be operated between Australia and Nepal.

Ambassador Volk said that there are more than 130,000 Nepalese living in Australia and informed that Nepali language is the third most spoken language in Canberra.

Likewise, he said that Nepal is a high priority for Australia and informed about the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia to Nepal in October, according to the Secretariat of Chair Timilsina.
