Thousands of Hindu women thronged the Pashupatinath temple on Monday to worship Lord Shiva on the occasion of Haritalika Teej.
KATHMANDU: During the Haritalika (Teej) festival, the Pashupatinath shrine becomes overrun with female pilgrims.
Worship used to take half an hour in the morning, but today it takes an hour.
According to Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada, Executive Director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADF), pilgrims would be able to return soon after receiving darshan this year because it is more organized than previous years.
All four gates are open for Pashupatinath devotion beginning at 3 a.m. For this year’s Haritalika (Teej) festival, preparations have been made to build lines from four sites to make it easier for fasting devotees who come to see Pashupatinath.
Queue management, volunteer recruitment, health camps, and free water distribution are all priorities for the fund.
Arrangements have been made for the four security agencies to provide protection in the Pashupati area during Teej.
Hindu women celebrated the festival across the country, to share the message of sisterhood by gathering at their parental home, indulging in jubilant dancing and singing.
Starting with early morning bath, women celebrated the festival paying homage to Lord Shiva by lighting lamps and with fasting.
