Sri Lanka accomplished the target of 252 runs set by Pakistan with losing 8 wickets in 42 overs. In this match, which was played 42-42 overs owing to rain, Sri Lanka was given a target of 252 runs in 42 overs according to the Duckworth-Lewis criteria.
Sri Lanka advanced to the final because Charith Asalanka scored a four and two runs in the final two balls when six runs were needed. He scored 49 runs undefeated.
Similarly, for Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis scored 91 runs while Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 48 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed of Pakistan took three wickets, Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan got two, while Shadab Khan of Pakistan grabbed one.
Earlier, Pakistan scored 252 runs in 42 overs after winning the toss and batting first. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan scored the most runs with 86, followed by Abdullah Shafique with 52 and Iftikhar Ahmed with 47.
With this victory, Sri Lanka has reached the finals of the Asia Cup, while Pakistan has been eliminated from the Asia Cup.
Now in the last match of Super Four, India and Bangladesh will play today, while the final match will be played between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday.
