KATHMANDU: HPV vaccination against cervical cancer has been given free of cost to girls from today.
The Health and Population Committee, under the leadership of Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has commenced a free HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign for girls today.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Thapathali Status Maternity Hospital, Kathmandu.
This campaign represents a vital step toward expanding access to HPV vaccinations, as it is no longer limited to only 14-year-old and 15-year-old girls. It is imperative that eligible individuals bring their valid identity cards for verification before receiving the vaccine. Furthermore, this vaccination regimen involves a two-dose series.
The vaccination services will be available from 9 am to 4 pm, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of recipients throughout the day.
A valid identification card is required prior to receiving the vaccine, and the administration of the second vaccine dose is essential.
This initiative reflects a commitment to the health and well-being of young girls in the region, offering them protection against HPV, a common virus that can lead to various types of cancers. The government’s dedication to providing this vaccine free of charge underscores its commitment to public health.
